Reading Buddies (Grades 2–4)

Read one-on-one with an elementary student for two 40-minute blocks. Books and prompts are handed to you; no lesson planning.

Anything comfortable. No open-toe shoes in the school building.
Activity level
Seated the whole time.
Group size
12 volunteers, one student each.

Two staff literacy coaches and the after-school teacher.
Accessibility
Elevator access, accessible restrooms, quiet room available.

The vibe

Warm and a little loud. Kids lead the pace. First-timers get paired with a returning volunteer for the first session.
